Deed of John Hand, Sr., to John Hand, Jr.
This Indeture, made the Twenty-Sixth Day of November, in the Year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Two, between John Hand, Senior and Margaret, his wife, of the Township Porter in the County of Schuykill, State of Pennsylvania of the one part and John Hand, Junior, John Houtz and SimonYager, trustees of a certain lot of land, a Church or School House being thereon erected, situated and laying in said Porter Township. Witnessed, that the said John Hand, Senior, and Margaret, his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty-five dollars, lawful money of the United States of America, unto them well and truly paid by the said John Hand Junior, John Houtz, and Simon Yager, Trustees, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents. And by these presents do grant, bargain, sell alien enfeoff, release and confirm unto the said Trustees, their successors in office and their heirs and assigns. All that certain lot or piece of land situated in Porter, late lower Mahantongo, Township aforesaid described and bounded as follows: Viz; Beginning at a stump in the Public road South sixty-seven and one half degrees, West forty perches to a stone, thence North twenty-two and one half degrees, West thirty-teo perches to a stone from thence sixty-seven degrees, Northeast forty perches to a stone, from thence South twenty-two degrees, East thirty-two perches to the place of beginning, bounded by other land of John Hand, Senior and others, it being part of a larger tract of land surveyed unto the said John Hand, Senior on the twenty-six day of March, A.D. 1804 by virtue of a warrant dated the twenty-fifth day of March, A.D. 1790 containing ninety-seven and one half acres and allowance. The land given was for the sole purpose of preaching the Gospel and teaching school in said house and for no other purpose whatsoever.
