John Hand, Jr., son to Johannes Han and Margraid, was born in 1791 in Williams Valley, Pennsylvania and died in 1877. He was instrumental in the establishment of the first school and official gospel building in the area. In 1842, along with John Houtz and Simon Yager, he would buy the land upon which the building would sit for $25.00.
