| William Merold, "Uncle Bill", was the son of Patrick (Pat)
Merold and his first wife, Stella Hand. He was born May 07, 1898 in
Tower City, Pennsylvania. He worked at local Rubber shops in Akron,
Ohio, in both Inspection and Tire Building. Bill served in both WWI
and WWII, surviving both intact. Though a great man, well loved and
respected, William Merold would never marry. After WWII, he returned
home and went to work again, this time Goodyear Tire, in Janitorial
Services. He could have done anything he wanted or nothing at all,
but Bill claimed, with a trademark smile, "Why?" He had
the poshest--er, cushiest--job around.
William Merold died in Barberton, Ohio, on February 19, 1975. With
his passing was lost a great man, a wonderful sense of humor and
the most level headed advice any could hope for. Bill is buried
at Rose Hill Burial Park, Akron, Ohio, with his much loved family.
