Resources:
- Research done through The Church of Latter Day
Saints, in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States Social Security Death
Index, various war records of the deceased, including Revolutionary
War pension records, mostly through state archives, the US Census
of 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, United States Mortality Schedules, 1850
to 1885, state census records from the 1800's, land grants, wills,
court documents/ filings, church registries, cemeteries, and various
historical societies. (For anyone just beginning a search for Civil
War soldiers, the new site under construction by the federal government's
National Park Service is looking quite lovely: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/.)
- Information not covered under the Freedom of Information Act or
Public Domain include:
- Personal accounts, histories and interviews, with permission.
- Family histories, with permission.
Photographs:
- Private family collection.
- Those gathered from newspapers, microfiche/film, databases, libraries
and Universities.
- Gifts from private individuals, with permission.
Living People:
- All genealogy reports stop at the generation which would include
living people, unless by permission.
- If death records could not be confirmed, people born roughly in
the first 30 years of the 1900's were considered the cut off generation.
(In case of error, all dates and particulars were stripped from these
individuals.)
- No pictures are posted of living people, without express permission.
Use of Site:
- This site contains information on seven different family lines.
Basic content includes the history, name origins, migrations, and
genealogies of seven early American families:
- The Pennsylvania Dutch and Quaker Families of early Pennsylvania:
Merold and Hand.
- The American Scots-Irish families of the early frontier and
Appalachia: Kinningham, McDonald, and Robinson.
- The Braintree, Massachusetts family Spalding, of the
Edward Spalding (1574) descendant line.
Some of what is found here may be information available elsewhere
online. For instance, the Spalding family, in particular, is heavily
researched online, as well as in hard copy. Still other information
will be from what I've gathered from personal family documentation,
interviews with descendants, and private family publications. This
information is posted for your benefit, as well as mine, in a community
of sharing. Materials for personal use only. For individual's on their
own family quests, take whatever you like; however, please write for
permission if you would like to post or reuse any photos or information
on the personal pages of the Descendant Outlines. Any commercial
reprinting or use of materials strictly prohibited.
- Navigation of this site is, I hope, self-explanatory. The family
names are in the upper left hand corner. Once you are on a family
page, more links will appear in the upper right hand corner. These
links will all be family particular to the surname you are currently
reading about.
